The process of LED heat dissipation is that LED transfers its own heat to the medium which has poor capacity of heat-spreading, such as packaging thermal grease and silicon substrate, is "point heat-spreading". And the achievement of diamond film as a heat layer which has the application of diamond film’s high thermal conductivity. The heat which belongs to LED quickly spread into the entire diamond film, and then the entire diamond film carries on the thermal diffusion to the medium which keeps connection with it, such heat dissipation is part of "surface heat-spreading", which can greatly improve the cooling effect.

As a result, thanks to the presence of the diamond film, the point heat-spreading of the LED device at work becomes the surface heat-spreading of the diamond film, thereby raising the heat dissipation efficiency and reducing the LED operating temperature consequently.Due to the highest thermal conductivity at room temperature,chemical vapor deposition(CVD)diamond film is an ideal heat spreader material for high power light emitting diode(LED).
